What to expect:
A first consultation lasts 1-1½ hours and subsequent appointments are less - usually 40 minutes to 1 hour.
You will be asked about your condition in detail plus other symptoms you may have, your past medical history and family medical history. Please bring along any medication or supplements you may currently be taking or, in the case of a child, the ‘red book’.
As homeopathy takes a holistic approach to health, I will also ask you about your energy levels, sleep patterns, emotional state and general lifestyle to help me gain an understanding of you as a whole person. This way I can make a prescription to match your individual needs.
Everything you say will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
Remedies
Homeopathic medicines are called remedies and are given in the form of pills or liquid to be taken in a ‘clean’ mouth (ie at least 15 minutes either side of eating, drinking or smoking). More details are given in Information for Patients. I may also prescribe a flower essence in the form of liquid drops. These are included in the cost of the consultation. Occasionally I may recommend a nutritional or herbal supplement which you will need to buy elsewhere – suppliers are listed in Links.
How long will treatment take?
Acute illnesses such as colds, fevers, sore throats and tummy bugs will resolve quickly over a few days. Illnesses that have developed over a long period of time will be slower to clear up, although there may be a response and improvement quite soon. Patients often report feeling a sense of wellbeing and optimism shortly after taking a remedy. Each patient is unique, so your recovery rate will depend on your particular condition and individual vitality. I prefer to see a patient for at least two follow up appointments – this means I can review your progress, adjust your prescription if necessary and have a better idea of the timescales that may be involved.
